PAIG: Helping Asylum Seekers

Asylum Seekers

Various regional conflicts have led to what experts call the “migrant crisis”. While the situation has reached its peak in recent times, migration has remained a hot issue, and Australia is one of the hotbeds for asylum seekers, and many have opted to migrate to the country both legally and otherwise.

It’s important for asylum seekers to know their options for moving to Australia. On the other hand, some may not have the resources to go through official channels in applying for asylum. For those who arrived in the country via illegal means, the Protection Application Information and Guides (PAIG) exists to aid asylum seekers who moved to the country illegally.

To help those to whom English is not a primary language, this guide is written in the following languages:

  • Farsi

  • Tamil

  • Arabic

  • Pashtun

  • Vietnamese

  • Bengali

  • Dari

  • Burmese

  • Urdu

  • Sinhalese

The guide will help applicants with the process of application for protection. It provides information on eligibility requirements, downloadable forms, and guidelines on protection obligations and the application proper.

Note that the steps outlined in the PAIG are for general purposes. If you have specific questions, or would like more detailed information, you may contact a migration agent.
